Middleton Croquet

In 2015 the Community Council was awarded a Community Grant by Suffolk Coastal District Council (now East Suffolk Council) for the purchase of a croquet set and associated equipment including a line marker.

So far, under the direction of residents Michael Kennedy and Judy Butler, a section of the Playing Field has been mown and marked as a croquet pitch.

A taster session attracted nearly thirty people over two days and the subsequent regular practice sessions, held every Wednesday between 5pm and 7pm, have been enjoyed by up to a dozen people.

Another ‘vintage’ set has been kindly donated so it is possible for up to eight people to play at any one time.

The rules of ‘Golf Croquet’ are applied which is a simpler version of Association croquet and allows full participation irrespective of ability.

Anyone wishing to use the equipment outside the above practice time would have to contact Michael Kennedy in the first instance.
