History

As many people will know I have been making a historical record of the farms in the village.  Now that I have what I perceive to be a fairly comprehensive historical record of the farms in Middelton cum Fordley I hope to make a separate file for each farm and place them in the Suffolk Record Office at Ipswich. This exercise began early in the 1990s much of it from interviews with as many people as possibe connected with farming. The historical record for each farm has involved collecting information from various other sources such as the Suffolk Record Offices at Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds. Even trips to Swindon and the PRO at Kew was helpful. Should you be interested in a particular farm then I can run a copy off which according to the number of pages will incur a small cost e.g. for 20 pages.

In addition to each farm I have published copies of Seven Centuries on Middleton Moor which runs to 136 pages with photographs. All my work carries a copyright footnote especially as the record offices require special permission to use the material.

For those interested in family history I recorded on tape many of the interviews for use as reference. They are not high quality but if it is the only voice record of a certain member of the family it might mean more to you than me.
